Size & Fit
Every Summit Soul piece is made to order, so a 60-second size check now beats an exchange later. Here is everything you need to land the right fit the first time, from tees to hoodies to the littlest explorers.
The short answer: our tees run small on men and roomy on women.
Same unisex cut, opposite advice. Please read the line that matches you:
- Men: size up. These are trim through the chest and shoulders. Nearly every man who swaps a shirt with us is going up a size, so take the next size above your usual and you will be right.
- Women: please do not size up. A unisex cut already sits roomier and straighter than a women's tee, so your usual size is the roomy, throw-it-on look. Want it closer to the body? Go one size down. A women's 12-14 is about a unisex L (see the chart below).
Our Premium Vintage long sleeve fits like the Premium tee (a touch small, so size up for room). Our lightweight long sleeve, hoodies and kids' styles fit true to size. Charts for all of them are below.
Know your tee
We print on two different blanks, and they fit differently. Check which one you are buying on the product page.
Our standard 4.5 oz tee
- Modern unisex cut with a slightly trimmer body and sleeve.
- Soft ribbed crew neck that sits comfortably from the first wear.
- Solid colors are 100% ring-spun cotton. Heather, grey and marled shades are a cotton-poly blend.
Trim across the chest and shoulders. Men: size up. Women: stay at your usual size, or go one down for a fitted look.
Heavier 6.1 oz garment-dyed tee
- Broken-in vintage feel with a boxier shape: the same chest width as the Classic Tee, but a shorter body.
- The collar is firmer and sits closer to the throat than the Classic Tee. It softens with washing.
- 100% ring-spun cotton in every color, garment-dyed and pre-shrunk. A true wear-it-everywhere weight, not a thin tee.
Same chest as the Classic Tee, so it runs small the same way. Men: size up. Women: stay at your usual size, or go one down for a fitted look. Starts at S, there is no XS.
The 60-second fit check
The single best predictor of fit: compare to a shirt you already love.
Grab a t-shirt you own that fits exactly how you like it. Lay it flat and smooth.
Measure the width straight across from armpit to armpit, then the length from the top of the shoulder to the hem.
Find the closest match in the chart below. That is your size. Numbers beat guessing every time.
How we measure
All chart numbers are the flat garment laid out, not body measurements.
- Width: across the chest, armpit to armpit, laid flat.
- Length: from the highest point of the shoulder down to the bottom hem.
- Sleeve: along the top of the sleeve from the seam to the cuff.
- Because each piece is cut and sewn fresh, allow about a half-size of natural variation (see the tolerance under each chart).

Premium Vintage Long Sleeve
The long-sleeve version of our Premium Vintage Tee: the same heavyweight 6.1 oz garment-dyed 100% cotton body, so it fits the same way. It shares the Premium Vintage Tee's firmer collar, which softens with washing. Men: size up. Women: take your usual size for a relaxed look, or one down for fitted. Do not size up.

A lighter, retail-fit unisex long sleeve in soft Airlume cotton. Unlike our cotton tee, it runs true to size, so take your usual size and only go up if you want layering room.

Little explorers run true to size. If your kiddo is between sizes or growing fast, size up. Ages are a rough guide, matching to a tee they already wear is more reliable.

Shopping for women's sizing?
Every tee is a unisex cut, which runs trimmer and a bit straighter than a women's-cut tee. Here is the quick way to translate your usual women's size. The size chart above is the source of truth, so measure a tee you love to confirm.

Works for both tees: the Classic and the Premium Vintage share the same chest width at L and above, and are within a quarter inch at S and M. One exception, the Premium Vintage starts at S, so if you are a 0-2 wanting the fitted look, S is as small as it goes. The Relaxed column is simply the size you normally buy, and that is how most women wear these. Only use the Fitted column if you want it closer to the body. There is no column above your usual size, because a unisex tee is already the roomier one. Still torn? Buying it as a gift?
You are in good company. A lot of our tees head out as gifts for the rock hound, birder or tree person in someone's life. If you know a shirt they already love, measure it flat and match the chart above. Guessing? For a man, size up rather than down. For a woman, stay at the size she normally buys, a unisex tee is already roomier on her than a women's tee. Either way, if it is not quite right, just email us and we will sort out the size.
Keep the fit you picked
Cotton can shrink if you cook it. A little care keeps your size your size.
Wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Skip the hot water.
Tumble dry low or hang dry. High heat is what shrinks a tee and cracks a print.
Iron inside out on low and avoid the print. No bleach, no dry cleaning.
Got the wrong size, or no size label?
A couple of things to know, because made to order works a little differently.
No size printed on the tag?
That is normal. Our blanks are printed fresh and the size tag is sometimes a tear-away, so it may not be on the shirt. The size you ordered is on your order confirmation email. To confirm what you actually received, lay the shirt flat and measure the width (armpit to armpit) and length, then match it to the chart above.
The fit seems off, or it is not the size you ordered
Email us at support@summitsoul.shop with your order number and a quick photo of the shirt laid flat with a tape measure across the chest. That lets us compare it to the chart fast.
If we sent the wrong size or there is any defect, that is on us, and we will remake and reship it free. Always.
